Cause

Healthy populations of moose, wild sheep, caribou, deer, and other ungulates are essential to British Columbia’s ecosystems, Indigenous communities, hunting opportunities, and outdoor heritage. In many areas of the province, however, these populations are facing significant challenges from habitat loss, disease, human activity, and unsustainable levels of predation. Supporting the Ungulate Enhancement Program (UEP) is a practical, science-based way to help restore balance and give vulnerable herds the opportunity to recover.

The UEP is a collaborative conservation initiative that brings together wildlife organizations, conservation partners, and licensed trappers to support targeted predator management where it is needed most. By providing financial incentives for the harvest of wolves and coyotes within identified regions and timeframes, the program helps offset the significant costs and effort involved in predator management while encouraging effective conservation action.

Every contribution to the UEP directly supports on-the-ground work that benefits British Columbia’s wildlife. Increased calf and lamb survival, healthier ungulate populations, and stronger ecosystems are the long-term goals of the program. By supporting licensed trappers who are carrying out this important work, donors and partners are investing in the future of wildlife conservation, sustainable hunting, and the preservation of British Columbia’s natural heritage for generations to come.
